Sarwar Vows To Bring Perpetrators Of Sahiwal Incident To Book

Punjab Governor ChaudharyMuhammad Sarwar on Saturday pledged to attract people responsible for theSahiwal incident.

The governor on Twitter said onTwitter that the killing of innocent people is not only the culprits of the lawand the state, but also the families of the victims.

He said the state would keep itspromise to put criminals at berth so that no one would dare kill an innocentperson in the future.

Prime Minister Imrans Khan yesterdaycalled on the Punjab government to appeal the decision of the SpecialAnti-Terrorism Court to acquit all suspects in the Sahiwal "meeting" case.

Dr. Firdaus Ashek Avans, thePrime Minister's Special Assistant for Media and Radio, said on Friday that thePrime Minister had instructed officials to investigate the weaknesses and shortcomings of the case.

Earlier on Thursday, theAnti-Terrorism Court acquitted all six suspects in a case of killing fourpeople in a possible confrontation earlier this year.

Six defendants, namely Safdar,Ehsan, Saifullah, Hussein and Nasir, were acquitted of insufficient evidence tomake them suspect.

During the trial, the courtrecorded the testimony of 49 witnesses, including the testimony of Zeeshan'srelative and another victim, Muhammad Khalil.

Sahiwal tragedy
